Recreational access to the Rio Grande River is located adjacent to the Diversion structure and Habitat Restoration.  Beautiful Diablo Canyon is also located off of Old Buckman Road for nature hikes, mountain climbing, and bird watching.  The BDD provides law enforcement presence along Buckman Road to the Rio Grande to help protect the wildlife, protect the habitat restoration improvements, and reduce damage caused by off-road vehicle use. The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) and US Forest Service (USFS) law enforcement officers enforce speed limits on Buckman Road, and enforce use of firearms on US Forest Service land adjacent to the Rio Grande.
