Maintenance Occurs at the BDD Intake Structure

Diversion Intake maintenance, Crane

Buckman Direct Diversion was offline for a few weeks while staff and contractors worked to repair the intake screens, cells and air burst systems before the high snowmelt runoff in the Rio Grande was in full swing.

A cofferdam was installed in April by ASI Constructors to divert the flows of the Rio Grande away from the structure to allow maintenance to occur. Facilities Manager Charles Vokes commended the diligent work by BDD staff who worked long hours to complete the repairs.

The diversion intake cells have worked well since the maintenance, but the cofferdam sections remain in the Rio Grande until this Fall so that additional repairs can be completed after the summer water demands have lessened.
